How Our Printer Tracking Solution works:

Working with large firms whose primary business is the generation of paper documents has helped Infoware develop the expertise to create a print tracking solution that is both robust and scalable. WinPT runs in the background on every PC in your organization and captures information about every print job request sent from Windows applications to a local network printer or fax device. When a user sends a print request, they are prompted to enter a billing code. This billing code and the job information are then written to a control file or the accounting system.

There are two versions of the WinPT application. Before printing, the Authentication Version will validate the user-generated billing code with entries in your accounting system or a network database. This gives Managers or Administrators maximum control over resource-use in their orgranization. The Non-Authenticating version of WinPT will simply write an entry to a control file for your review.

When sending a print job, billing codes can be manually assigned by the user or automatically assigned by the software by communicating with a DMS for document properties. With WinPT, client firms decide how invisible or invasive the application needs to be for their end-users. For Authentication Version purchasers who choose to have the application prompt for a code, WinPT will hold a job until the user has input a valid code. Custom connections can be supplied to allow WinPT to communicate and send output to most accounting systems and database software.
