Windows Update KB973904 causes errors when opening documents

A recently released Windows Update (KB973904) causes the following error when opening certain documents:

Word cannot start the converter mswrd632.wpc.

This happens particularly for InForm users running Word 2007, when working with case profiles.

The workaround is to add a registry key, as they describe at the bottom of the KB article:

1. Click Start > Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
   
   For 32-bit versions of Windows
   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\
   CurrentVersion\Applets\WordPad
   
   For Microsoft Windows on Windows 64 (WOW) mode
   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\
   Windows\CurrentVersion\Applets\WordPad
   
   If the key does not exist, right-click Applets, select New > Key and name it WordPad.
3. On the Edit menu, point to New > DWORD Value.
4. Type AllowConversion for the name of the DWORD, and then press Enter.
5. Right-click AllowConversion, and then click Modify.
6. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
7. Exit Registry Editor.
